“A lovely example of what a surefooted filmmaker can achieve with a game and talented cast and a generous, heartfelt story.”~The Guardian
Aroview: A note-perfect indie drama from the dir. of HUMPDAY, this 'chick flick' may well appeal as much to male audiences with its engaging cast and 'love triangle' premise that cleverly defies the usual conventions.
The congenial Mark Duplass plays a grief-stricken man who is offered a retreat at his best friend and would-be lover's isolated cabin, only to end up sleeping with her lesbian sister. Like other projects produced by this small repertory of actors and film-makers (see our 'close relatives'), this uses three characters as effectively as three chords in a bittersweet pop song.

5 stars (Exceptional) Have to strongly disagree with Tubbs - this is a firm-footed American indie, and a bright spot on the CV of Ms. Blunt. ~smithee
4 stars (Very Good) ~WendyB
5 stars (Exceptional) A small film by design, but it achieves what it sets out to do brilliantly: it creates characters so credibly flawed that we can't help laughing, cringing, and caring. The leads are wonderful, Duplass especially, and the final shot is just about perfect. ~fairbrother
5 stars (Exceptional) Outstandingly beautiful Seattle-based film with very crisp dialogue & a tight plot, exceptional acting by all, especially the great Emily Blunt. Nuanced and realistic. Delightful & memorable - recommended ~Sandy
1 star (Turkey) If you want to waste time watching a film about people wasting their time then this film is for you. Juvenile script. What's Emily doing in this? ~Tubbs
