Bram Stoker's Dracula
Aroview: Francis Ford Coppola's opulent and erotic update of the gothic legend. Gary Oldman's incarnation of the fanged one is most impressive here, as are the gorgeous visual effects (made exclusively in camera). Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves and Anthony Hopkins round out the famous, if hardly authentic, cast.

5 stars (Exceptional) My Favorite Version of Dracula on screen ~Wyatt Earp
3 stars (Good Enough) The effects nicely bring Bram Stoker's original vampire tale up to contemporary standards, although not much can be said for the acting (other than Oldman), and if you've seen earlier renditions of the film there probably isn't very much here for you. ~Tom H
2 stars (Good Try) The screenplay doesn't stand out but the set designs, wardrobe and make-up are commendable. ~Tubbs
5 stars (Exceptional) Manages to be both sexy and horrific, both fantastical with the SFX and historically accurate, and true to both the homoerotic subconscious of Bram Stoker and the '90s fascination with 'diseases of the blood'. An influential film, and rightly so. ~Creek
