Steeped in elegant 1950's nostalgia, this plays like a close cousin to fellow behind-the-scenes speculation, MY WEEK WITH MARILYN, succesfully channeling Hitchcock's personal insecurities and frustrations with the Hollywood establishment into a dramatic narrative and provides edifying context around the landmark horror film. Most memorable, though, is one blackly comic scene (perhaps a classic in its own right) of Hitchcock's playful indulgence at the 'Psycho' premiere.

3 stars (Good Enough) The production values are quality. Hopkins does a remarkable job on his posture and voice and the make up people do the rest. A wonderful cutting performance from Helen Mirren adds value. ~Tubbs
