Aroview: A celebrated string quartet in New York struggle to stay together through a combination of illness and relationship woes in this nuanced ensemble piece set in the world of classical music performance.

The actors practised their own 'fingerboard work' and there musical performances are excellent to the untrained eye, while Hoffman and Walken are a delight to watch with or without their strings, even through some of the dramatic contrivances of the screenplay.

Note: The original, superior title 'A Late Quartet' was changed in this part of the world to avoid confusion with the British film, QUARTET.
