Behind the Candelabra
Synopsis: Steven Soderbergh directs this classy HBO-produced biopic of flamboyant pianist Liberace (Michael Douglas) and his rocky relationship with lover Scott Thorson (Matt Damon).
“The glitter and kitsch, and jaw-dropping performances by Michael Douglas as the middle-age Liberace and Matt Damon as his much younger boy-toy Scott Thorson, make this a wild ride without compare.”~Wall Street Journal

2 stars (Good Try) The story doesn't amount to much - many couples fall in and out of a relationship - the appeal of the glitz soon wears thin. ~Tubbs
2 stars (Good Try) Beautifully appointed, at times credibly tender, but ultimately tedious. The mention of 'Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte' made me long for that film's Grand Guignol nastiness. ~HiFi
