Rectify (TV Series)

Aroview: An immensely rewarding dramatic series from Southern character actor Ray McKinnon, which follows the painstaking reintegration of a death row inmate back into society after his conviction for the murder of a teenage girl is overturned two decades later.

Pushing plot development and the promise of murder mystery firmly to the background, this admirably honours the tough psychological journey of its protagonist (heartbreakingly played by Aden Young) while spending quality time with a small cast of supporting characters in (mostly) everyday situations. On the basis of its mesmerising performances, air of strangeness, and unlikeness to anything else on TV at the moment, our highest recommendation.
