Aroview: An unnerving, atmosphere-rich 'feminist' policier from Australasian auteur Jane Campion, centred on the mystery of a 12-year-old girl's pregnancy in the deep south, and the investigator (Elisabeth Moss) drawn beneath the facade of Queenstown's spectacular backdrop.
Although ultimately surrendering to TV plot mechanics, this is a serious and substantial dramatic portrait of New Zealand's rural underbelly draped in a suspenseful and sinister palette of 'Southern Gothic'. Fans of 'Nordic Noir' should immediately apply. Seven episodes.

2 stars (Good Try) The cinematographer has done a wonderful job of capturing the beauty of the Wakatipu and the Moke, but the plot ultimately - and disappointingly - wasn't up to scratch. ~MB
2 stars (Good Try) Stunning visuals, but a routine and rather predictable plot. ~MovieBuff
3 stars (Good Enough) Not as good as I thought it would be. Kind of dragged on with various subplots but then when the perpetrator is revealed it is almost a non-event and the story quickly wraps up. ~Haywara
