Aroview: This superlative HBO policier - a marquee television event in 2014, and the first in an anthology of bespoke detective stories - pairs Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as mismatched investigators tracking a nihilistic killer in South Louisiana.

An outstanding exercise in Southern Gothic, literary influence, and rich cinematic form, the eight-part series boasts a continuity and breadth of vision rarely seen on the screen screen, benefiting particularly from the sole creative teaming of Nic Pizzolatto and Cary Joji Fukunaga (who wrote and directed every episode respectively). Though a wasteland for female characters and deeply misogynistic in its worldview, it nonetheless has set the bar extremely high for all crime series to come.

3 stars (Good Enough) Fantastic theme song - totally appropriate and sets the right mood. McConaughey has the most interesting character but unfortunately doesn't enunciate his words very well.I will watch again with sub titles. ~Tubbs
