Cold in July
“A superior piece of Texas pulp fiction that starts out like a house on fire, sags a bit in the middle, then rallies for an exuberantly bloody finish.”~Variety
Aroview: A small town Texan incurs the wrath of an ex-con after killing his son in a home invasion attempt in this juicy, well-directed rural thriller set in 1989.
Tensions between a mullet-sporting Michael C. Hall (DEXTER) and a craggy Sam Shepard come to a boil in a vivid atmosphere of foreboding, before a larrakin cop (Don Johnson) twists the story (and film) in another direction where dark-hearted crimes and black comedy coalesce. Not for the squeamish, but very much for fans of modern noir and Mr. Tarantino.
