Green Dolphin Street
Aroview: One of the biggest box office hits of its time, this sweeping colonial melodrama of unrequited lovers who migrate to Aotearoa in the 1850s has dated terribly with its stereotyped depiction of Maori 'natives' and the land wars of the era. Still, a unique curiosity as one of the few major Hollywood productions to tackle New Zealand history, probably best remembered for its impressively realised earthquake sequence.

0 star (Not rated) There were some interesting "historical" aspects to this film, however it was overlong, mawkish and dated. Lana Turner and Donna Reed, though lovely, were just too modern. Their hair and bonnets were laughable, and much of the dialog silly.rn ~ets
