Aroview: The Rolling Stones captured at the summit of their popularity and musical form in 1970, on the tour that led to disaster at Altamont.
The Maysles Brothers unobtrusive, observational style captures the sense of pending disaster, even capturing on film the murder of a black concertgoer by the Hells Angels, ostensibly hired as concert security. One of the key documentary works of the 1960s/70s, and one of the best films about music ever made.
Average rating (Very Good). Showing 1-3 of 3 member reviews.
3 stars (Good Enough) More about how not to organize a concert than about music. Interesting that the Stones were too greedy to perform at Fillmore West, so well organised by Bill Graham. ~Sandy
4 stars (Very Good) Historic document of infamous concert at Altamount speedway. I think the Stones and, especially Mick Jagger were glad to finish the concert and quickly get out of the area. ~emjay
4 stars (Very Good) Great documentary making at the sharp end. ~Tubbs
