Aroview: Science and art coalesce in this extraordinary story of Texan tech pioneer and obsessive polymath Tim Jenison's attempt to perfectly reproduce a famous Vermeer painting by hand.

With no prior experience as a painter, he instead tests a theory about how the 17th Century master might have managed to paint in photo-realistic detail 150 years before the invention of photography. Tim's friend and illusionist Penn Jillette and British art icon David Hockney are among the astounded onlookers.

3 stars (Good Enough) Slow moving & less interesting than The Girl with the Pearl Earring but much more informative. Focussed on art historians rather than art as such. ~Sandy
