Phoenix
“Both a powerful allegory for post-war regeneration and a rich Hitchcockian tale of mistaken identity.”~Jordan Mintzer, The Hollywood Reporter
Aroview: The director of YELLA and BARBARA reunites with his ingenue Nina Hoss for this romantic tale of deception about a concentration camp survivor who after undergoing reconstructive surgery sets out to determine if her husband betrayed her to the Nazis.
While not quite as wholly plausible as BARBARA, this similarly brims with ambiguity, political mistrust and sexual tension.

1 star (Turkey) Disappointing Holocaust movie. Nina Hoss is good; but forget the "plot"! ~Sandy
2 stars (Good Try) Nina Hoss is very good and does well to survive a screenplay that creaks and groans struggling with plausibility. ~Tubbs
