5 stars (Exceptional) When Ada arrives on the shores of NZ for an arranged marriage, with daughter & piano, her wealthy new husband refuses to transport the piano & sells it to a neighbour, George - and things become interesting. The cinematography is simply perfection. ~GenXGirl

2 stars (Good Try) It captures the era very well i.e. when there was nothing to do. The piano score and the kid's voice grates. Some good location shooting. Unusual to see Holly and Harvey subdued. ~Tubbs

4 stars (Very Good) A powerful film set in NZ which American reviewers ignored. One described it as being "about mud" - which in a sense it is. It takes us back to early settlement. Great cinematography, good story. Drama, rather than entertainment, but a "must-see". ~Sandy
