Quiet Girl, The
“One of the most beautiful movies I’ve ever seen. It is perfection. It is impossibly small, and emotionally immense.”~MaryAnn Johanson, Flick Filosopher
Aroview: An exquisite rites-of-passage drama filmed mostly in the Irish/Gaelic language, it is the very definition of a literary pastoral that finds understated majesty in its many details.
Catherine Clinch is nigh on perfect as a quiet-spoken, neglected nine-year-old who is sent away from her dysfunctional family to live with foster parents for the summer of 1981. Adapted from the short story "Foster" by Claire Keegan.

4 stars (Very Good) The screenplay wasn't perfect but overall it did the little things well and its pacing was spot on. The main strength however was in the performances. All nine year olds should be like Catherine Clinch & the other parts were performed to near perfection. ~Tubbs
5 stars (Exceptional) Intense, economical. Great subtlety. Wonderfully captures the view of a child. Every frame a perfect one - even the domestic interiors. A small, but perfect film. ~Anon
