20th Century Women
“Part comedy of manners, part mother-son love story, it had me laughing and tearing up simultaneously.”~Molly Haskell, Sight & Sound
Aroview: Recalling her turn in THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT, Annette Bening shines once again as a bohemian Californian mom, who here enlists Greta Gerwig and Elle Fanning to help raise her 15-year-old son in this dreamy Californian memoir of late-70s lifestyles.
Based on the experiences of writer-director Mike Mills, its a note-perfect coming of age film for hip Gen-Xers, with delightful, unshowy performances from the entire cast.

3 stars (Good Enough) Unusual & intelligent. Progressive in many ways, contrasting with the compartmentalisation of character in most American movies. Somehow unresolved; the 'happy ever after' ending was a mistake: better short & less biographical. ~Sandy
5 stars (Exceptional) I thought this film was really beautiful. I watched it with my mum at the nziff. I loved Dorothea and found her self-determination quite empowering. My mum found her quite annoying. ~Catapillar
2 stars (Good Try) The performances were fine (that was to be expected from this cast) but there was little else to it. ~Tubbs
