Blade of the Immortal
“A gorgeous and brutal fantasy romp... and a welcome return to the heroic bloodshed of Miike’s great samurai epic, 13 Assassins.”~Ant Timpson, NZIFF
Aroview: Japanese uber-director Miike Takashi’s 100th feature, based on a popular manga series about a vengeful swordsman with an uncanny ability to grow back his own limbs. The howler of a premise giddily sets the stage for a virtuoso display of kinetic action and flying body parts.

2 stars (Good Try) There was a cast of thousands and they were all needed, with some having to be recycled for later scenes. Most were dispatched in whole or in parts whilst conversely, because of the running time, the audience was in danger of dying of old age. ~Tubbs
