Red Sparrow
“Like 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,' but only if it were directed by Showgirls-era Paul Verhoeven”~The Atlantic
Aroview: Ultra-stylish spy thriller with Jennifer Lawrence as a Russian ballerina whose attempts to support her ailing mother lead her to train as a "sparrow" - a secret agent who uses seduction as a weapon to extract intelligence. Glossy and gratuitous old-school genre fare.

2 stars (Good Try) The false accents were a struggle for the viewer and performers. There have been several good spy dramas made over the years so we didn't need another one. I guess the extra violence in this one is an attempt to set it apart. ~Tubbs
2 stars (Good Try) Not an enjoyable or interesting film. Choppy, no connection with the cold characters. Shows the naked power of the Russian State. Long, complex but weakly plotted. Ludicrously filmed in London where the cityscape is vastly different from Moskva. ~Sandy
