Walter / Walter & June
Aroview: A pair of grim television movies based on the novels by David Cook, starring Ian McKellen as a man with a learning disability who is condemned by Thatcher's social services bureaucracy to a psychiatric institution. The sequel, "Walter and June" is set 19 years later when Walter falls in love with a fellow-patient (played by Sarah Miles) who together escape to the outside world.
The two films were re-edited together under the title "Loving Walter" (125m.), which is included as a bonus with this set.
