UK 2019, 99 minutes
Dir. Mark Jenkin
Genres: Drama / Independent
Feat. Edward Rowe, Simon Shepherd, Giles King, Mary Woodvine
“A genuine modern masterpiece, which establishes Jenkin as one of the most arresting and intriguing British film-makers of his generation.”~Mark Kermode, The Guardian
Aroview: A fisherman in a picturesque Cornish village finds his traditional way of life threatened by gentrification in this experimental but dramatically compelling film from Cornwall born-and-bred writer-director Mark Jenkin.
A bold and singular vision retro-forged in hand-processed black-and-white 16mm film stock, with the dialogue, music and sound effects added afterward, lending the film both a theatrical and dreamlike quality.

5 stars (Exceptional) Give Cornwall back to the Cornish!rnI liked it so much I adopted it and I’m a right tight bast*d. ~stve
3 stars (Good Enough) The camera work is centre with close-ups of bits of rope & the like & creating the right feel for a drama located in a small fishing community. The drab colours help & tension is enhanced with the expectation that the projector might break down. ~Tubbs
3 stars (Good Enough) Very interesting film. I liked it. Saw it at lighthouse Cuba with my mum. It has an interesting filming style that at first seems odd but once it reveals its trick at the end, it makes sense. ~Catapillar
4 stars (Very Good) Unusual. Fascinating EXTRAS such as long interview w/Mark Kermode where Jenkin explains his techniques, motives & that most of the 'actors' are his relatives!! WW1 vintage films included incl. promo for the Great Western Railway & other poetic snippets. ~Anon
