Shadows in Paradise

Aroview: The first film in Kaurismäki's Proletariat Trilogy follows a lonely garbage collector who finds romance with a check-out clerk (Kaurismäki regular Kati Outinen) in the wake of the death of his friend and co-worker from a sudden heart attack. A gentle, whimsical rom-com in a bleak setting, and one the director's finest.
