“A work of art rather than science or history, has no qualms about departing from the known record — and does so with wit, beauty and a modernism that feels all the more bracing in this Victorian context.”~L.A. Times

4 stars (Very Good) Kate & Saoirse are, as usual, marvelous but the plot is rather slow-moving, a bit like the geological processes themselves. These are unexplained because they were not understood until the later time of the great Charles Lyell. ~Anon
3 stars (Good Enough) Another terrific performance from Kate Winslet - she doesn't need words. An actress who doesn't mind rolling her sleeves up and taking on unglamorous parts. A very good female supporting cast helps plus there is great period work by the filmmakers. ~Tubbs
