Ellie & Abbie (& Ellie's Dead Aunt)

Aroview: Australian lesbian rom-com from writer-director Monica Zanetti, based on her own stage play about a teenager who is visited by the ghost of her dead aunt, an LGBT rights activist who died in the 80's. This gay fairy godmother or OWL (older wiser lesbian) dishes out the advice whether it's wanted or not.

It's a light hearted but passionately rendered concept, illuminating both the universally awkward teenage crush and how our queer predecessors have influenced and shaped our social experiences today. A true labour of love for Zanetti, who turned to crowd funding after her insistence that the cast be at least 50% LGBT was met with refusals from distributors.
