Blonde Venus
Aroview: Director Josef von Sternberg reunites with muse Marlene Dietrich in this sweeping melodrama about a German chanteuse turned struggling housewife who resurrects her stage career after her husband falls ill.
In an effort to raise enough money for his treatment she prostitutes herself to a millionaire, played by Cary Grant before the world knew anything of him. Dietrich performs three musical numbers in the film, adorned in stunning costume and not quite shaking off her iconic glamour for this riches-to-rags story.

5 stars (Exceptional) Marlene at her most vampish! This 1982 reprocessed print (full screen, Dolby sound) is very good & almost modern in feel. NYC looks good w/out the Twin Towers & with Cary Grant & Dietrich, seductive. A heartbreaking story that doesn't lose it's punch. ~Anon
