Locked Down
“It’s a daring mix of genres, but it works. Steven Knight wrote and directed one of the best (“Locke”) and worst (“Serenity”) films of the last decade, but when he is good, he is very, very good, and his skillful handing of relationships and claustrophobia”~TheWrap
Aroview: Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor play a newly separated couple confined to their swanky London apartment during a mandatory lockdown, with co-habitation proving to be a challenge until a fateful opportunity presents itself to steal a precious diamond from luxury department store, Harrods.
One of the first films out of the block to be both made during – and set amidst – the CoVid-19 pandemic, this unique hybrid of rom-com, chamber drama and heist movie feels completely contemporary. While some critics have taken umbrage with the film’s indifference to real casualties of the pandemic, this is foremost a comedy that is both frank and relatable about how lockdowns exacerbate anxieties irrespective of one’s walk of life.
