Aro Recommended Miracle of Morgan's Creek, The

USA 1944, 98 minutes
Dir. Preston Sturges
Rating: [G]
Genres: Classics, Comedy / Screwball

Aroview: Madcap screwball comedy from genius writer-director Preston Sturges (THE LADY EVE), following a small-town girl from the Midwest (Betty Hutton), who wakes up after a wild farewell party for a group of soldiers to find that she has married one of them, but cannot remember which. Matters are further complicated when she discovers she is pregnant...with sextuplets!

A perfect vehicle for the comedic talents of Hutton, this delightful film pokes fun at all things respectable, from the American Forces to politicians, with brilliantly subversive witticisms, gags and non-sequiturs delivered at breathtaking pace.

The 1958 Jerry Lewis comedy ROCK-A-BYE-BABY loosely adapts the same story.
