“What a thoroughly wonderful sophomore feature from the British director Ben Sharrock – witty, poignant, marvellously composed and shot, moving and even weirdly gripping.”~Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
Aroview: A moving cross-cultural comedy about the refugee experience, set on a remote Scottish island where a promising young Syrian musician is waiting for his asylum request to be processed.
Along with three other asylum seekers, he participates in a cultural awareness class while awaiting his fate. The hardship, hope and absurdist humour of the situation is brilliantly portrayed by promising British director Ben Sharrock.

3 stars (Good Enough) It has a touch of the Kaurismäki's at times. ~Tubbs
4 stars (Very Good) A brilliant opening to an engaging movie. It is hard to find humour in the refugee experience, but here it is...and the sadness, too. Fine acting, very moving, intense. A sad, brave film lightened by the imagination & quirky Scots humour of the Director. ~Anon
4 stars (Very Good) Filmed in the Outer Hebrides. The bare, often desolate and unforgiving landscape perfectly matches the situation faced by the four asylum seekers and their individual stories. Comedy wouldn't isn't the first category I think of. rnrnrn ~Haystack
