Other Side of Hope, The
“Using comedy to chase away the despair of modern life, this is a thoroughly satisfying and distinctively lovable film. ”~CineVue
Aroview: This Finnish take on the European migrant crisis - proclaimed to be last directed by auteur Aki Kaurismäki - is a poignant yet typically idiosyncratic comedy-drama about a Finnish businessman who provides refuge for a Syrian asylum-seeker looking for his missing sister.

3 stars (Good Enough) Very sad if you know the reality. No-one smiles in this and Syrians are treated icily by the bureaucracy - better by (most) ordinary folk. But the Finns are bizarre! Another indulgent, uninformative, unlovable Finnish film. ~Sandy
