My Salinger Year
“Buoyed by an appealing duet of star turns from Margaret Qualley and Sigourney Weaver.”~Tim Robey, The Telegraph
Aroview: Light drama set in the world of literary arts in the pre-digital era, from French-Canadian director Philippe Falardeau (MONSIEUR LAZHAR).
Set in the mid-90's, Margaret Qualley (daughter of actress Andie MacDowell) plays an idealistic young writer who impulsively quits graduate school, getting her foot in the door of the publishing industry through an assistant role to a prickly literary agent (Sigourney Weaver). THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA but for the literary world, this is an undemanding film which still manages a touching commentary on the enduring value of mentorship in the arts. Based upon the memoir of the same name by Joanna Rakoff.
