“On its own, it’s still an incredible achievement, amplifying a blood-soaked adventure epic in the haunting specters of witchcraft and folklore that will still challenge viewers without leaving them fully out in the cold.”~Clint Worthington, Consequence
Aroview: An action-filled epic from Robert Eggers (THE LIGHTHOUSE, THE WITCH) that follows a young Viking prince on his quest to avenge his father’s murder.
The director's leap to big budget/big canvas film-making gamely tries to subvert hyper-masculine hero's revenge tropes but is still enslaved by them, and can't quite throw off the shackles of artifice try as it might. Sure to satiate fans of the genre, though.

2 stars (Good Try) Mainly indistinguishable from the others in the genre where all the males have beards or are wanting to grow one. Plenty of yelling and screaming and ooohing and arrring. ~Tubbs
2 stars (Good Try) Potentially disapointing for Vikings fans. ~L
