Sisu
“Even as Aatami survives completely ridiculous and clearly life-ending assaults, the magic of bloody-mindedness keeps the action … if not plausible, then never less than hilarious and gruesome.”~Austin Chronicle
Aroview: A stylized, tongue-in-cheek actioner set in a Northern Finnish wasteland where a lone prospector has his gold stolen by a group of merciless Nazi soldiers in the dying days of WWII.
This legendary ex-commando doesn’t say much in this mostly English-language film, but he’s effective as a one-man death squad, embodying the Finnish word “sisu”, which approximates to a white-knuckled form of courage and unimaginable determination in the face of overwhelming odds. Fans of John Wick and Rambo will get their money’s worth.
