Squaring the Circle: The Story of Hipgnosis
Aroview: The story of Aubrey “Po” Powell and Storm Thorgerson, a couple of unlikely London lads who stumbled into forming the coolest art design group of their time by producing iconic record sleeves for Brit-rock legends like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Genesis, 10CC, T.Rex, ELO and many more.
A labour of love for director Anton Corbijn (himself an iconic photographer of the post-punk era), it's filmed in his trademark black-and-white with only the sleeve designs themselves in colour, while the grooves they contain shimmer in stereo with all music rights officially cleared. The result is documentary catnip for record heads.
Thorgerson died in 2013, so Powell is left to carry the torch for the story, supported by contemporary interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Noel Gallagher and Glen Matlock.
