Genres: Science Fiction, Action/Adventure / Outer Space
Aroview: Sigourney Weaver returns as Ripley, the only survivor from the first grisly encounter with the slimy she-creature, here joining a team of high-tech marines to investigate the mysterious dispappearance of another colonialist crew.
Unlike so many sequels, this film doesn't copy the formula of its predecessor and hence succeeds on its own merits. Much more of a blockbuster than ALIEN.
The "Director's Cut" restores 17m. of footage excised from the original theatrical release. These scenes add a lot of suspense but are not essential.

3 stars (Good Enough) Trades the horror of the previous installment, turning it into just another action movie. Also, how come the aliens are now so easy to kill? ~dr.strangelove
5 stars (Exceptional) ~Mick28
4 stars (Very Good) Cameron effectively changes up the formula from the first aliens by focusing on action rather than suspense. Very effective as a sci fi actioner, but not as great as the first film. ~Tom H
DVD and BluRay copies include Both Versions of the film
