Aroview: A gang of space travellers crash land on a foreign planet (in a blistering opening sequence) where they confront infighting, a volatile prisoner and a horde of nocturnal predators.
Filmed in Australia with a mostly local cast (led by an excellent Radha Mitchell), this Hollywood hybrid is proudly cloned from ALIEN genes, with first-rate effects and a slate of original ideas more than compensating some of the cheesy conflicts and stock characters.

4 stars (Very Good) A brilliant sci fi actioner that has Vin Diesel play the role of his career. The visuals are striking, the creatures unique, the suspense and action are both here, and so is a plot of sorts - well worth watching for sci fi fans. ~Tom H
