Aroview: Eddie Murphy finds what used to make him funny in this surprisingly inspired refresher of the Jerry Lewis comedy classic about a nerdy college professor who can transform, Jekyll-and-Hyde style, into a conceited schmoozer.

He's amazingly unrecognizable in most of his seven character incarnations, but best of all, in the same way Lewis did, he lampoons his own screen image and thus redefines it.

2 stars (Good Try) Although its a remake the Murphy performances and the outstanding make up department make it worth it. What lets it down is the uneven screenplay which is at times soppy and includes unnecessary speaking out of stern jokes. ~Tubbs
