Apostle, The
Aroview: Labour of love - in the best possible sense - for Robert Duvall (as Actor/Writer/Director), raising hellfire as a repentant Southern-style preacher; part snake-oil salesman, part loving father, part servant of God and part womanizing hothead. Duvall offers rich complexity to a character type usually portrayed in one-dimension, and if the effect doesn't quite convert you, it sure carries a powerful persuasion. Able harmony parts from Miranda Richardson and Billy Bob Thornton.
