Prisoner of the Mountains
Aroview: A Tolstoy fable is here seamlessly transposed to the Chechean conflict, with two Russian soldiers apprehended by a Chechean village elder who hopes to trade them for his captured son. As the two captives gain the compassion and sympathy of the villagers, an especially poignant, funny and memorable indictment of war is confidently drawn. The rugged beauty of the Chechean Highlands comes as a bonus.
