Return, The
Aroview: A surprise arthouse hit about a couple of teenage brothers who are taken on a mysterious trip by their estranged and rather surly father, with his suspicious motives anchoring much of the tension.
Well-crafted and largely involving as scenic road journey, cultural critique and study in paternal psychology, though this pattern is broken by a certain turn of events, where the film enters almost mythic realms. Lavished with praise by the world's critics, this does suffer a few arthouse cliches and takes few real risks, though the ambiguous finale certainly has what it takes to get under the skin.

4 stars (Very Good) The father of two Russian boys suddenly returns home after a 12-year absence - their only memory of him, an old photograph. When he takes them on holiday, each boy reacts differently to his unsettling & stern demeanor. Riveting & emotional, must-see. ~GenXGirl
