Walkabout
Aroview: An English schoolgirl and her brother end up abandoned by their father in the Australian Outback, before meeting Aboriginal boy David Gulpilil. Dir. Roeg's followup to PERFORMANCE goes in for boldly overstated (and effective) symbolism, taking a visual fascination with landscape and its lifeforms to surreal extremes.

4 stars (Very Good) A nuanced film about culture and communication. Occasionally clumsy in juggling its themes, Walkabout is for the most part mysterious, visually strong, and not a simplistic “noble savage = good; modern life = hollow” tale that some think ~SteveParkes
4 stars (Very Good) Not without fault, and a bit hard to categorise, it is however memorable. The locations and the photography (from vistas to the Outback's smaller creatures going about their daily business) are stunning. ~Tubbs
