General, The
Aroview: Top-rate return to form for dir. Boorman, styling the career of true-life Dublin gangster Martin Cahill as an epic comedy of criminal capers: outwitting the police, the IRA and his own family, crafted with an adriot feel for Irish absurdity and sadness.
Brian Gleeson (I WENT DOWN) is particularly impressive in the lead, Jon Voight (as his police nemesis) ably supporting.
Note: was B&W at the cinema, but rendered into colour for video.
