Aroview: The 'mock documentary' format entirely befits the story of rabidly ambitious young debutantes vying for local representation in the Miss Teen Princess America pageant. Kirsten Dunst, Denise Richards, Kirstie Alley and Ellen Barkin have a lot of fun with it, though it must be said that the funniest thing about the real thing is its utter seriousness. Scripting by a former beauty contestant gives it an insider's vantage but also explains why the satire refrains from fully extending the claws.
