Billy Elliot
Aroview: While his father and brother bare the burden of the protracted miner's strike in early 80s Yorkshire, an 11-year-old lad skives off from boxing class to take lessons and find salvation in ballet, under the secret tutelage of Julie Walters.
Closely follows the steps of recent British portraits of the resolute outsider triumphing over poverty and prejudice, but ultimately wins over with its moving central relationship between father and son. Songs by T Rex.

3 stars (Good Enough) Young Billy secretly skips boxing practise to take up ballet classes and, against his Father's orders and ridicule of his peers, surprises everyone with his impressive skills. Feel-good film that'll leave a smile. ~GenXGirl
3 stars (Good Enough) Bitter sweet - overwrought at times but with some delightful moments especially from Jean Heywood as Gran.Patrick Malahide has a cameo. ~Tubbs
