Coyote Ugly
Aroview: A young 'Jersey' girl (Piper Perabo) sets off to the Big Apple to follow her dreams of becoming a successful songwriter, but winds up shaking her moneymaker on tables in a flashy bar and falling in lurve with a quirky Australian.
Much more innocuous (and politically correct) than SHOWGIRLS, it may still be morally muddled, but perhaps that's just part of the girls-eye view - a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. The raincoat brigade (ie. blokes) will be disappointed, but this will strike a fond note with would-be pop starlets or fans of Mariah Carey-style MOR.

2 stars (Good Try) With a 'cocktail' meets 'showgirls' premise, and little substance backing up the flashy bar dance sequences, Coyote Ugly manages to remain surprisingly entertaining for a 90s audience thanks to the unbeat pop soundtrack. ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) The bar room dancing scenes work and save the film from what goes on in between. An attractive female cast does well. ~Tubbs
