Buffalo Bill and the Indians

USA 1976, 118 minutes
Dir. Robert Altman
Rating: [PG]
Genres: Action/Adventure / Western

Topics: Satire.

Aroview: Off-key satire on 'official' American history, with Paul Newman as the charismatic fraud Bill Hickock, whose Wild West Show toured America in the late 19th century and essentially invented the myths of the Wild West.

Here, Chief Sitting Bull negotiates his appearance fee as the Show gears up for a Presidential visit. Not without its flaws, but a pleasure for those who can get Altman's ironic humour.
