And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself
Aroview: Zooming-in on an intriguing corner of 20th century history, this tells the unlikely (but true) story of Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa's experiences making a film for Hollywood in 1914.
Collaborating with DW Griffiths protege Frank Thayer, Villa (played here convincingly by Banderas) starred in his own biopic 'The Life of General Villa', a silent film which has since disappeared. The ambiguous and fascinating story is given an enjoyable gloss by dir. Beresford in this HBO telemovie.
