Blow
Aroview: ‘Cocaine biopic’ of Pablo Escobar’s American partner, George Jung (Johnny Depp), who graduated from low-level pot-dealer on the beaches of California to co-ordination of a multi-national smuggling operation.
Racing through the decades (60s-80s) in an infectious free-wheeling style that recalls BOOGIE NIGHTS, this has received praise for its detail and layered narrative; others have sniffed over the rise-and-predictable-fall of yet another 70s lowlife with a heart. Also stars NZ’s own Cliff Curtis (as Escobar!)

3 stars (Good Enough) A decent drug-related drama, mostly well acted, but not as good as other 60-80s crime epics like Boogie Nights or Goodfellas. ~Tom H
2 stars (Good Try) It barely causes a ripple. ~Tubbs
