Powaqqatsi
Aroview: Extending the themes and montage techniques of cult favourite ‘Koyaanisqatsi’, this sequel introduces media culture excess and the plight of the Third World into its wordless, visually arresting commentary about nature and technology.
Not as cohesive or definitive as its predecessor, but just as spectacular. Philip Glass returns as composer. The title is a native American Hopi word meaning ‘parasitic life force’.

5 stars (Exceptional) Probably the best of the series. Incredible visuals. People of the third world work, move, work, eat, work & then stare into space while their world spirals off into insanity. Glass score sounds dated, but is good & not in his usual style. ~Toby Dammit
