Great Day in Harlem, A

Aroview: Featuring a panorama of interviews on the 1950s heydays of Harlem jazz, this Oscar-nominated doco centres round a famous photograph of 50 odd musicians taken for ‘Esquire’ magazine on a streetfront in August 1958. Among those still living who participated: Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey, Sonny Rollins, Gerry Mulligan and Nat Hentoff.
