Maid in Manhattan
Aroview: A middling contemporary ‘Cinderella’ romance, based around the dubious onscreen chemistry of Ralph Fiennes and J-Lo.
When senatorial candidate Fiennes sees hotel maid Lopez trying on a rich guest’s clothes he falls in love with ‘her’ not realising the true situation, pursuing this illusion for much of the running time. Any mileage this age-old plot may hold is offset by J-Lo’s inability to convey a truly unglamorous side, as, say Meg Ryan can (and her glamorous side ain’t up to much either). However, a sleazy Stanley Tucci and various story twists, should add enjoyment for more than just fans of the leads.

2 stars (Good Try) When you have Fiennes, Richardson and Tucci the end product should be better, but I suppose even this kind of talent needs the material to succeed. On top of that there is a top drawer actor in Bob Hoskins with hardly anything to do. Didn't need the kid. ~Tubbs
