Aroview: Ultra-glamorous French romantic comedy, in which one can gorge on (or gawp at) Riviera culture at its most opulent - the clothes, the architechture, the food, and Audrey Tautou at her most positively ravishing.
The eye-candy comes encrusted with a priceless comic premise - gold-digging shopaholic Tautou spends a drunken evening with a flat-broke hotel porter (Elmaleh), but her efforts to shake him loose are compromised by her growing affection for him. Despite a not-quite-convincing denouement, this genuinely sparkles and is surely set to make Audrey (like her more famous namesake) the glamour icon of her generation.
4 stars (Very Good) Entertaining. Audrey is at her most beguiling. I especially like where she teaches the subtle but slightly poker-faced Moroccan/French Elmaleh how to turn on the charm! Wittier and more fun than many recent French comedies. Well-paced.~Sandy
